System recovers 300 square feet of high-value manufacturing floor space.

THE DESIGN CHALLENGE

A manufacturing firm needed to dedicate space on its production floor to periodic product testing, and staff needed access to chest freezers and large, flat workbenches in order to conduct the tests. But since the testing process was not continuous, valuable manufacturing floor space was lost to work areas that were unused much of the year.

THE SPACE-SAVING SOLUTION

Decision-makers at the firm determined that a compact mobile storage system would provide the ideal solution. Spacesaver provided ActivRAC® 7M rails, carriages, and stanchions for this project, and the firm provided the workbenches and all equipment to be used on them. The carriages move on rails to compactly house the equipment when not in use. When testing is required, the carriages expand to provide access to work areas. This ActivRAC® project has allowed the facility to recover 300 square feet of high-value manufacturing floor space while maintaining convenient access to the freezers and workbenches.
